Welcome to 2013! The holidays are over, and it is time for you to relax and enjoy the excitement of a new year! One of the things we are most excited about with the new year is this very newsletter. Four times a year, you will receive this newsletter providing you with information, tools and resources to help you stay healthy and live life well.
Recently, Heartland Regional Medical Center became an Accountable Care Organization (ACO). An ACO is a group of doctors and other health-care providers who agree to voluntarily work together with Medicare to give you the highest-quality medical care and services at the right time and in the right setting. An ACO is not an HMO plan or Medicare Advantage Plan. If you have traditional Medicare, you still have the right to choose any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare. You benefit because your doctors will be part of a team that focuses on the coordination and quality of your medical care. Being a part of an ACO is all about collaboration between providers, coordination of care and communication. One of the ways that we want to stay in constant contact with you is through this newsletter.
Each quarter we will focus on providing you with tips, resources and tools to help you stay active and well. Recognizing February as Heart Month, this newsletter is focused on heart health and how to keep your ticker in tip top shape. Inside you will find ways to eat to beat heart disease, ways to get moving without overdoing it and how having less stress can do your heart good.
Here’s to a healthier you in 2013 from all of us at Heartland Health.
