2015 Pound Plunge kickoff – Imagine what you’ll gain when you lose

The 2015 K-JO 105.5 Pound Plunge presented by Mosaic Life Care kickoff event was Wednesday, January 7, at the St. Joseph Rec Center. More than 1,500 participants weighed in to compete for prizes and, more importantly, to get started or continue on the path to a healthy lifestyle.

Spring 2015 semester of 4th Grade Challenge wraps up

The 4th Grade Challenge wrapped up this week with visits from KC Wolf and Kansas City Chiefs ambassadors. These special guests help reinforce the messages of health, exercise and nutrition taught to students during this eight-week program.

Girls Night Out 2014

About 200 women from the community gathered at the St. Joseph Rec Center on Sunday, November 2 for this year’s Girls Night Out with Mosaic Life Care and the Kansas City Chiefs.

4th Grade Challenge Fall 2014

The 4th Grade Challenge wrapped up last week with visits from KC Wolf and Kansas City Chiefs ambassadors. These special guests help reinforce the messages of health, exercise and nutrition taught to students during this eight-week program.

Chiefs Training Camp

Mosaic Life Care presents the 2014 Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp at Missouri Western State University. “Sponsoring the Chiefs Training Camp is the right thing to do because it is important to the vitality of our community and is in line with the transition from health care to life care,” says Tama Wagner, chief brand officer of Mosaic Life Care.

Couch Potato to 5k 2014

This year’s Couch Potato to 5k program wrapped up on July 16. Over the last 16 weeks, more than 200 community members participated.

Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day 2014

More than 100 families attended this year’s Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day. At this event, families have opportunities to enjoy activities and health booths while hearing presentations related to the importance of mental health.

Pink Night at the Mustangs

On May 31, 2014, the St. Joseph Mustangs held Pink Night at the game. Through fundraising during the game and a post-game pink jersey auction, the Mustangs helped raise $1,500 for Heartland Health and Mosaic Life Care’s Center for Healing Generosity toward the purchase of a 3D tomosynthesis mammography unit.

2014 St. Joseph Parkway Run/Walk

More than 300 local runners and walkers participated in this year’s Parkway Run/Walk on Saturday, May 24. Of these participants, nearly 100 were Heartland Health and Mosaic Life Care caregivers.

American Heart Association St. Joseph Heart Walk 2014

More than 220 people participated in this year’s Heart Walk, raising money and walking for research related to heart disease and other heart illnesses.

Second Harvest regional food distribution

One of the tasks from the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) is to increase access to healthy foods in underserved areas and food deserts in our region. Heartland Health and Mosaic Life Care recently contributed $65,000 to Second Harvest Community Food Bank to meet this need.

Day of Dance 2014

Kids in the Kitchen

The “Kids in the Kitchen – from the garden to your plate” series class teaches kids and parents how to utilize the fresh fruits and vegetables grown in their school’s community garden to create healthy and affordable meals.

Second Harvest Partnership

Heartland recently presented Second Harvest Community Food Bank with $65,000 to meet this need. Along with the financial assistance, Heartland is also providing volunteers to help with Second Harvest initiatives such as regional food distribution, Backpack Buddies and Fresh Start, Second Harvest’s on-site grocery store which provides fresh produce to customers in need.
