American Heart Association St. Joseph Heart Walk 2014

More than 220 people participated in this year’s Heart Walk, raising money and walking for research related to heart disease and other heart illnesses. Participants took advantage of different booths that included health screenings such as blood pressure checks, body composition and a balance test. There were also activities for kids, healthy snacks and bottled water available. Heartland Health and Mosaic Life Care was recognized for having the most participation out of all the businesses and teams involved this year. Altogether, more than $35,000 was raised to benefit the American Heart Association.

Heartland Health and Mosaic Life Care is a proud sponsor of the American Heart Association Heart Walk. This event encourages physical activity and a healthy lifestyle which helps us meet the requirements of the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) and improve the overall health of our community. This assessment identified adult and childhood obesity as one of the health needs in our community. Physical activity, such as walking, is one way to live a healthy lifestyle, have a healthy heart and improve the overall health of our community.

Heartland Health strives to make St. Joseph and the surrounding area the healthiest place in America to live a healthy and productive life. The American Heart Association Heart Walk is one of the programs we sponsor that helps us achieve this goal.
