Day of Dance 2014

Heartland Health’s Day of Dance event brings together the community for a fun, entertaining atmosphere that promotes health awareness and illness prevention. At Day of Dance 2014, participants engaged in health screenings, vendor booths, “ask an expert” booths and also dance classes such as Zumba, ballroom dancing, wedding line dancing, country line dancing and salsa. The tools and opportunities provided at this event were geared to equip the community to take control of their health and their family’s health.

At this year’s event, 23 people had an EKG screening, 40 people did a skin cancer spot check, more than 20 people signed up for My Mosaic Portal and several others participated in blood pressure checks and foot screenings. Of all those who did screenings, several found a need to be addressed with their primary care provider or a specialist. Great job to all Heartland Health caregivers and providers who staffed the event — from these numbers, we can see that we are truly making a difference in the health of our community!

Heartland Health strives to make St. Joseph and the surrounding area the healthiest place in America to live a healthy and productive life. We are working to achieve this goal as well as meeting the health needs of our community, such as adult and childhood obesity, mental health services and access to health education and resources — the three needs identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment.
