A core clinical site is a hospital/health system that provides clerkships for third year medical students and required core and elective rotations for fourth year medical students. Clinical rotations for nurse practitioner students are also arranged in and around core site hospitals. Housing is available for students training in St. Joseph and Maryville.
When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to partake in the ACES program with Northwest Missouri AHEC. I remember being inspired by all of my preceptors and excited to learn everything possible. ACES provided me with a plethora of experiences that I probably would not have had otherwise; from shadowing experiences to dissections to blood pressure clinics - I loved it all.
Returning to Northwest Missouri as a third year medical student has truly been rewarding. The one-on-one teaching and hands-on approach here at Mosaic really enhances the learning experience. There is also a strong interest in educating the patient and the community which provides an additional valuable component to my rotations. I also enjoy being able to help with ACES workshops - it is nice to be able to help an organization which has benefited me so much through the years!
