"When I was a child, my mom put up a Christmas tree in our local small town grocery store and filled it with gloves and stocking hats to help those in need. Several years ago, my husband and I (with the help of our church) resurrected the idea and the response was overwhelming."
- Melissa Wagner, Philanthropy Coordinator, Mosaic Life Care
In keeping with this spirit and to give back to the community, we will be filling the Christmas tree outside the gift shop and at Mosaic Life Care Cancer Care with stocking hats, scarves, gloves and mittens.
Those in need can take an item from the tree. We will also include information about Beaman's Closet and the need for donations to purchase coats as we have several people present to the hospital each year who are in need of a coat.
We are looking for ...
Individuals or groups that like to knit or crochet and are willing to make items for the tree
What if I don't know how to crochet or knit?
You could also help by making a donation:
- Of yarn
- By purchasing items
- Giving a gift so items can be purchased
We will need many items to fill two, nine-foot trees and to restock them every couple days, so we are working to build up our inventory.
You can drop off items in the Philanthropy Office at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph - Medical Center during normal business hours, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. For more information or to set up a time to drop off items, please call Melissa Wagner, Mosaic Life Care Philanthropy Coordinator at (816) 271-6792.
