As the minister or lay visitor from a local congregation, you are an important link to the community for the hospitalized person. We hope the following information will help you orient to our facilities. If you have questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact the Spiritual Health office at (816) 271-6040 or 800-447-2487.

Congregation Member Information
To help facilitate your ministry, the Spiritual Health office will contact your congregations of patients who indicate their membership at admission.

If you know the name of a hospitalized member of your congregation, you may call or stop by the Spiritual Health office and request room information for that member.

A religious census listing members by congregation is available in the Spiritual Health office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. You may request a listing of those who are hospitalized from your own congregation and a general listing of your particular denomination. It is important that your congregants notify you when they or a family member are hospitalized. Please also stress the importance of stating their religious and congregational preference when they are admitted. Only the hospitalized person can request a change of an incorrect listing.

If you would like to make a prayer request for a patient, friend, or family member, you may e-mail your request to Prayer Ministry or call (816) 271-4005.

Telephone and Private Consultation Availability
There is a telephone available for your use in the Spiritual Health office. Dial “9" for an outside line. Space is available for private consultation. Ask any Spiritual Health staff or call the office to make arrangements.

Place for Prayer and Meditation
The chapel is located across from the surgery waiting room on the main floor.

Worship Services
A prayer service is held every Wednesday at noon in the chapel. Patients, family, friends and caregivers are welcome.
Prayer requests for a patient, friend or family member may be made by calling the prayer request line (816) 271-4005, calling the Spiritual Health office, e-mail your request to Prayer Ministry or writing a request in the chapel. All prayer requests received are prayed for at the weekly prayer service and daily by the on-call chaplain.

A Memorial Service is held from time to time for the loved ones of persons who have died at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph - Medical Center and with Mosaic Life Care Hospice.

What services do chaplains provide?

Chaplains respond to all traumas; are present at the bedside of persons who are dying; attend all deaths; and respond to referrals from clergy, family members, doctors, nurses, and caregivers. Chaplains are available for consultation on ethical decision-making, including organ/tissue donation and Advance Directives. If you are not available to visit your members, the hospital chaplains will be glad to call on them at your request. There is a chaplain on-call in the hospital 24 hours a day.

Clergy Parking
Clergy parking spaces are available at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph - Medical Center in the front (Lot M). Clergy parking tags are available in the Spiritual Health office.
