In-Patient Care

Mosaic Cancer Care provides in-patient cancer treatment and management in our inpatient oncology unit. The inpatient oncology unit is staffed by two oncology-dedicated hospitalists and oncology-certified registered nurses who have received specialized training in the administration of chemotherapy medications and cancer care. The caregivers on 2 South work very closely with a pharmacist and a social worker to provide complete care to each patient receiving treatment.

The goal of in-patient cancer care is to get the patients back on their journey, so we focus on what goals our patients have set for themselves and make every effort to help each patient reach their goals. Every patient has a very specific and personalized plan of care that is created to achieve the best possible outcome for that patient.

We center our in-patient care on making our patients comfortable, and we encourage the patients as well as their family and friends to ask questions and be involved in the cancer treatment plan.

Cancer Support Community

Mosaic Life Care and Cancer Support Community (CSC) believe no one should face cancer alone.

CSC is a national organization which partnered with Mosaic Life Care Medical Center in 2019. This is a community-based program that offers free cancer support programs to anyone impacted by cancer, even those who don’t receive care at Mosaic Life Care. These programs are open to patients in cancer treatment, post-treatment, caregivers, family members, and survivors. Participating in these programs promote social connections, decreases feelings of isolation, and positively impacts emotional well-being.

Clinical Research

Research is an important part of cancer care because it helps advance the sciences developed to treat and ultimately lead to a cure for cancer. Learn more about our clinical research studies. Mosaic Life Care participates in several types of cancer research:

  • Clinical drug trials
  • Clinical device trials
  • Registry
  • Historical/retrospective analysis
  • Investigator initiated projects
  • Pharmacy resident research
  • Quality of life
  • Survey/questionnaires
  • Interviews

Clinical trials are studies that take place in conjunction with a patient’s cancer treatment plan. Clinical trials are the safest and fastest ways to determine how well a new treatment or medical procedure works in humans. They are often used to help answer specific health questions and to see if a new medicine or technology can help advance cancer care. Clinical trials are also useful in comparing existing treatments and discovering new ways to deliver approved treatments to maximize results and minimize side effects.

Second Opinions

With something as serious as cancer, getting input from another expert just makes sense. At Mosaic Life Care, we support, encourage and will help our patients in getting a second opinion. No matter how much you like or trust your oncologist, it’s natural to wonder if something was missed or if a new cancer treatment is available.

Your reasons for getting a second opinion may include:

  • Being sure you have explored all options.
  • Seeing if another treatment is available.
  • Having trouble understanding and communicating with your doctor, or you want your options explained by someone else.
  • Wanting peace of mind that you are making the right choice.

Getting a second opinion can help you feel sure about your diagnosis and treatment plan. Decisions about your health should be made after you’ve learned all you can about your diagnosis, prognosis and available cancer treatment options.
