Clavicle fracture

Overview

Infants can sometimes experience a clavicle fracture during the birth process. Other common causes include falls, sports injuries, and trauma from traffic accidents.

Symptoms

Symptoms include swelling and grinding, cracking, and increasing pain when moving the shoulder.

Treatments

Treatment includes an arm sling to limit shoulder movement, pain medications, and physical therapy. Severe breaks may need surgery.
