Overview

Rubella, also called German measles, is a contagious viral infection best known by its distinctive red rash.

Symptoms

Other symptoms, which often appear two to three weeks after exposure, include mild fever and headache.

Treatments

In many countries, rubella infection is rare or even nonexistent. Parents are cautioned to vaccinate children to prevent rubella.
