Sciatica

Overview

Sciatica is usually caused when a herniated disk or bone spur in the spine presses on the nerve.

Symptoms

It causes pain along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from the lower back through the hips and buttocks and down each leg. It typically affects only 1 side of the body.

Treatments

Medication for pain and physical therapy are common treatments.
