Tapeworm

Overview

A tapeworm infection may be confined to the intestine or spread to other areas, causing organ and tissue damage. Adult tapeworms can live up to 30 years in a host.

Symptoms

Many people have no symptoms. Other people may experience nausea, weakness, belly pain or fever.

Treatments

The tapeworm may exit the body on its own. If not, medications can help get rid of the tapeworm and reduce symptoms.
